OUTREACH SUPPORT SERVICES for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder ( ASD ) in BIRMINGHAM

autism. west midlands is a preferred provider for Birmingham City Council in providing services for individuals with autism. The provision is offered in line with referrals and agreed/funding opportunities.

The Service Users may require support in a supported living context ie their own home/flat or perhaps specialist support in a sheltered housing scheme or be living in the parental home but needing support to access local community resources for example.

Individual support packages could include:

  • Supported Living – an individually designed support package for someone living in their own home or flat (rented or otherwise).
  • Additional autism specific support for someone living in a sheltered housing scheme.
  • Support for an individual living in the parental home – with accessing local community resources for example.
  • All support packages will be individually designed and will provide specialist autism specific support.

Support and Staffing: autism. west midlands employees are recruited and trained to focus on:

  • Autism specific person centred approaches
  • Supported living - enabling and empowering service users with autism
  • All staff will have an acceptable and current Criminal Records Bureau enhanced check and two satisfactory references.

Employees are supported and directed by organisational policies and procedures to ensure the well being and safety of the service user and themselves. Staff are recruited an trained to meet the needs of the service.

Funding: Initial referral and information gathering may lead to a full assessment will be carried out and a full costing agreed before we are in a position to offer a service. The services can only be offered if funding is secured, which would normally be dealt with through a Social Worker.
