► Autism Awareness Tour 2012

 

We are delighted to announce the Autism Awareness Tour of the West Midlands 2012 will be commencing from March.

There will be 6 seminars throughout the year running throughout the West Midlands, for anyone affected by autism to learn more about this complex disorder.

This tour is in response to a huge demand and we hope that everyone in the West Midlands will be able to easily access at least one of our seminars. We hope will be a step towards increasing the awareness, understanding and support of autism across the region.

Course details

Our Autism Awareness training has been specially adapted to the new requirements under the Autism Act and Statutory Guidance. It is a sharply-focused seminar, tailored to your workplace. This one day training programme is a cost-effective introduction to autism, giving key strategies. Full training materials are provided.

Our training will help you:

• Recognise that someone has autism

• Understand what autism means

• Recognise how people with autism view the world and process information

• Understand how to minimise the anxiety of the person with autism

• Learn practical, specific strategies to use in dealing with someone with autism, at work or elsewhere

Course aims

To explore the autism spectrum and cover the following areas:

Information: An introduction to autism.

Impact: Learn how to recognise that someone has autism. Understand how a person with autism sees the world, and how this might affect you in your professional or personal life.

Intervention: Participants will be able to understand better why people with autism may behave differently, and will gain practical knowledge of strategies to enable them be more effective in working with people with autism.

Training methods

The course will make use of use presentation, multimedia, interactive discussion and toolkits.;
