April is World Autism Awareness Month!

26th March 2018

World Autism Awareness Month is here and we’re on a mission to raise as much awareness, and as many funds as we can in order to be able to support people who are affected by autism.

To kick off World Autism Awareness Month the Family Support team at Autism West Midlands will be holding a drop in advice stand at the Gracechurch Shopping Centre, where they will be on hand to provide lots of information and advice. During World Autism Awareness Week 26th March – 2nd April, the Shropshire team at Autism West Midlands will be raising awareness at various libraries within the Shropshire area. Throughout the month we will be holding many fantastic events and trips including Understanding your autism which is three practical sessions that give children the opportunity to meet others of a similar age with autism, and a Trip to the Think Tank. Finally we will be marking the end of World Autism Awareness Month by holding their annual Silly Sock Day on Friday 27thApril.

On Silly Sock Day we ask that you wear your silliest, craziest, socks to school, work, or even challenge your friends and family to wear their most outrageous socks for a day at home and donate to help us to raise awareness and vital funds for autism. Funds that will help support people like Sylvia and her family. Watch her video below.
