Walsall Befriending Volunteers Are Award Winners!

Our Befriending Team Volunteers are the champions!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that our Walsall Befriending Volunteers WON the award for Community Champions 2025 at the Black Country Heroes awards last night.

A really well deserved win for the team who are all so passionate and dedicated towards their role in making our Befriending Service such a success.

“A huge congratulations to our Walsall Befriending Service Volunteers and team for winning the Community Champions award at the Black Country Heroes Awards last night. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our autistic adults community service, they go above and beyond and dedicate a significant amount of their time to support our autistic group members and staff running the service. Our service relies on the support from our five volunteers (Marlene, Pete, Dave, Fajr and Heather), we really couldn’t deliver our groups and service without their kind and generous support. Each volunteer shows great passion, kindness, devotion and generosity when attending and supporting at our group sessions. We all had a truly special and enjoyable evening.” – Loren, Assistant Manager, Autism West Midlands

Our Walsall Befriending Service allows for autistic adults to meet up with other like-minded autistic adults, learn more about autism and build friendships whilst doing fun activities together.  The group are heavily involved in choosing their own activities, topics of group sessions and grow to form long-lasting friendships as a result of the group.

This service is funded by Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council and more information about it can be found at the following link: https://www.autismwestmidlands.org.uk/black-country-community-services/
