Animal Interaction at Forge Mill Farm

This session is for Sandwell Teens age 13 – 17 Years, who have a diagnosis of Autism.

Get up close and personal with a variety of farm-yard animals.

This four-hour session will include feeding, handling and grooming the animals with the help and guidance from one of Forge Mill Farms education and outreach coordinators.

Due to health and safety, teens must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times during the session.

Access by car, bus, bike or on foot.

Follow brown tourist information signs from either Newton Road or Holyhead Road. we are 10mins away from Junction 1 of the M5 and the centre of West Bromwich.

Parking

Parking is available at Forge Mill Farm and Lake. Overflow Car Parking is available at Swan Pool Car Park which is just a short walk away from the farm. Parking fees apply which start at 40p an hour. Pay by phone available at both site, as well as by cash at Forge Mill. Parking tickets are valid across whole site.

By bus: The nearest bus stop to Forge Mill Farm is a short walk of about 10 minutes away, and services bus routes 5, 16 and 46.

Health and Safety

All Teens must be accompanied by one responsible adult during the event for health and safety reasons.

Hand Washing facilities are available throughout the farm and include, warm water, soap, and paper towels. Wash their hands using liquid soap and running water, when leaving an animal contact area and especially before eating and drinking.

Anti-Bacterial Hand Gels and wipes should NOT be used as a substitution to hand washing with water and soap, as they are NOT affective against harmful diseases.

Do not drink or eat in animal contact areas and keep hands away from mouth and face

IMPORTANT NOTICE – During lambing season women who are or who could be pregnant should NOT visit the farm, due to the high risk and dangers of contracting Zoonoses and other diseases that will harm your baby.

Do not entre animal pens or restricted areas unless authorised and accompanied by a member of staff.
