The Burrows is a supported living scheme in Droitwich.

This opened in 2019.

The scheme consists of a number of self-contained flats. The scheme is a new build that has been funded by Worcestershire County council and Fortis Living. The build has been designed specifically for autistic people taking into consideration sensory needs, promoting least restrictive support, emotional health and wellbeing.

People have the rights to their own accommodation, having their own tenancy and the rights to choose their support provider. Residents are encouraged to choose their own room decoration, furniture and food and meals. They are encouraged by staff to cook their own meals where they can and take part in activities and sessions that support their own interests and goals. Some residents also have access to their own vehicles which staff use to help transport them around the community.

The Burrows also features a lot of assistive technology to support the residents that live there including alarms, flood detectors, magi plugs and emergency buttons. We have also supported people to access equipment such as epilepsy mats/sensors and communication aids to help with promoting their independence as well as provide the best support for them as individuals.

The Burrows allows residents access to shared spaces too so that they can mix with the other residents and is situated very close to one of our other residential homes so that they can mix with residents there too if they wish to.
