At Autism West Midlands, our work is enriched by the lived experiences and passion of the people we support and there’s no better example of that than Sam, one of the newest members of our volunteer team in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Sam’s journey with AWM began when she accessed our services following her autism diagnosis. Like many people who come to us, she was looking for connection, understanding, and the right support. Through our services, she participated in the Autism Confident Course, a programme designed to build self-awareness and confidence while navigating life as an autistic adult.
Sam quickly became a familiar face within our community. She played a valuable role in helping shape our Wellbeing Walks and Support Groups, offering feedback and suggestions drawn from her own experiences.
In April, Sam took the next step in her journey with us. She approached our team to say she wanted to give back—and we were thrilled to welcome her as a volunteer!
We’re so grateful for Sam’s enthusiasm, insight, and commitment. Her contributions already speak volumes, and we’re incredibly excited to have her officially on board as part of the AWM family.
