For many autistic people priority access isn’t a “perk”- it’s an essential adjustment. Long queues, crowded environments and unpredictable waiting times can cause significant anxiety, sensory overload and distress. In many cases, this can mean families are limited to attractions they can attend altogether.
These adjustments are a vital part of creating inclusive spaces and we know how important days out are for families -they’re about making memories. Accessibility should never be a barrier to that.
We are calling on Merlin to:
Reconsider this decision
Engage meaningfully with autistic people and ADHD communities
Co-produce inclusive solutions that offer fair and dignified access for all
We’re keen to hear your views and opinions on this- especially with February half-term almost upon us.
At Autism West Midlands we firmly believe that inclusion for everyone is not optional – it’s essential.
